PURRA G300 review: floor-standing diffuser for 180 m²

11 September 2026 · PURRA

Composition épurée dans un intérieur clair, en écho au design du diffuseur PURRA G300 (avis et test)

The PURRA G300 is a floor-standing home fragrance diffuser that covers up to 180 m² by cold nebulisation, with no water and no heat. This review sums it up in one line: it is the only device in the PURRA range built for an open volume, an aluminium column 101 centimetres tall that stands on the floor and runs on battery. The PURRA G300 column answers one precise problem, and it is too much everywhere else.

This test reports the manufacturer's figures, the real settings and the limits of the device. It completes our guide to home fragrance diffusers, which compares the whole range by surface area.

The essentials

What is the PURRA G300, and who is a 180 m² column for?

The PURRA G300 is made for the volumes that devices sitting on furniture never reach: a living room open onto the kitchen, a loft, a reception area, a showroom, a function room. The factory data sheet states coverage as a volume, 300 cubic metres, and the figure published by the brand is 180 m². Below 100 m², another model is enough.

PURRA is a French brand of home fragrance diffusers using cold nebulisation, with a range of devices and six scent refills. The G300 is its tallest format: aluminium alloy, Black or Champagne finish, internal 10,000 mAh battery, USB-C input at 5 V and 2 A for a power draw of 10 W. It has no ambient light: it is a piece of furniture, not a night light. A scent refill is included with the purchase.

In an open living room the mist leaves the nozzle at head height: that is what the column format changes.

What diffusion at 101 centimetres above the floor changes

A nozzle placed 101 centimetres above the floor releases the fragrance above the furniture, in the layer of air that standing occupants breathe. A device sitting on a chest of drawers diffuses at the same height, but it depends on a free, well-placed piece of furniture. The column stands wherever the volume calls for it, including in the middle of a room.

The second effect is freedom of placement. With its 10,000 mAh battery, the PURRA G300 needs no socket nearby: fully charged, it diffuses for 293 hours of operation on setting I, 146 hours on II and 88 hours on III. On the gentle setting that comes to about 36 days at 8 hours of diffusion a day. A full charge takes about 6 hours, a manufacturer figure, and the device keeps diffusing while plugged in.

The trade-off is physical. A device 101 centimetres tall standing on the floor can be knocked over: it needs a hard, level floor, away from walkways and swing doors, with the cable run along a skirting board. For room-by-room placement, our article on the fragrance diffuser for a large room covers the positions that work.

Three intensities, four timer settings: the PURRA G300 in use

The PURRA G300 diffuses in short bursts, never continuously. Setting I releases 15 seconds of mist then pauses for 200 seconds, setting II 15 seconds then 100 seconds, setting III 15 seconds then 60 seconds. The timer offers four positions: 1 h, 2 h, 4 h and 8 h.

Those three settings decide everything else. A 100 ml scent refill lasts 625 hours of operation on setting I, 400 hours on II and 200 hours on III, which is a consumption of 0.16, 0.25 and 0.5 millilitres per hour of operation. At 8 hours of diffusion a day, that gives about 78 days on the gentle setting, 50 on the moderate one and 25 on the strongest. Going from I to III therefore divides the life of a refill by three.

Filling is done into a reusable internal bottle that is never thrown away: pour the refill in, screw the nebulisation head back on, the operation takes about ten seconds. At PURRA, we advise making the first adjustment with someone who walks in from outside and says what they smell: the right setting is the one you no longer notice on entering. The PURRA app, currently being released, will add control of intensity and day-by-day time slots.

PURRA G300 or PURRA X300S for your volume?

Above 100 m², or under a high ceiling, the PURRA G300 column and its 180 m² are the right call; below that, the PURRA X300S does the same job in a format that sits on a surface. Both devices share the 100 ml scent refill, the 10,000 mAh battery and the same three intensities.

On budget, the PURRA range runs from 24.90 to 349.90 €, with a refill included with every device, and the column sits at the top of it. The prices shown on the product pages are the ones that count. Delivery is free from 49 € to France, Switzerland and Monaco, orders ship within 24 to 48 hours, returns remain possible within 14 days and the legal warranty of conformity covers 2 years.

The circular base is what keeps the column upright: it assumes a hard, level floor, never a thick rug.

The three limits of the PURRA G300, stated plainly

The first limit is footprint. A column of 101 centimetres is a piece of furniture: in a 60 m² flat it takes up space a 30 centimetre cylinder would not have taken, for coverage nobody there needs. The PURRA X300S is then the right purchase, and the PURRA C30 is enough in a bedroom, an office or a car.

The second is portability. The device is self-sufficient in energy, but it does not slip into a bag: you do not carry it from room to room the way you carry a small model, and moving somewhere smaller leaves it oversized.

The third concerns the setting. In an open volume, setting III empties the refill in 200 hours of operation, or about 25 days at 8 hours of diffusion a day: always going to the maximum costs a lot for a scent you eventually stop noticing yourself, through olfactory habituation. Setting II is almost always the right starting point.

Frequently asked questions

Why does a floor-standing diffuser cost more than two small devices?

A floor-standing diffuser covers one continuous volume, where two devices rated for 10 m² each cover 20 m² in two separate islands. A column rated for 180 m², or 300 cubic metres stated by the manufacturer, means one refill to keep track of and one setting to hold.

Adding small devices in a large volume produces fragranced zones and empty zones, with as many bottles to watch as devices. The honest calculation is not the purchase price but the number of diffusion points needed for the scent to be even. Below 100 m² the arithmetic reverses, and a single device on a surface is enough.

Do you need a bigger refill budget with a large diffuser?

No: consumption depends on the intensity chosen, not on the size of the device. A 100 ml scent refill lasts 625 hours of operation on setting I, 400 hours on II and 200 hours on III, or about 78, 50 and 25 days at 8 hours of diffusion a day, whichever model holds it.

What changes the budget is the setting the device runs on. A large volume tempts you to raise the intensity, and that is where the spending climbs, not in the format of the diffuser. A setting found at II rather than III doubles the life of the same refill.

Can you start with a smaller model and move up to the large format later?

Yes, and the 100 ml refill stays the same: it fits both the device rated for 100 m² and the column rated for 180 m². Returns remain possible within 14 days if the model chosen turns out not to suit.

Only the 10 ml format, reserved for the portable 10 m² model, is not interchangeable. The useful question is the room, not the stage: an undersized device never catches up with a volume that is too large, even at maximum intensity. If the living room exceeds 100 m², starting small means buying twice. Our guide on where to buy a premium fragrance diffuser covers the warranties attached to each channel.

How long does the PURRA G300 last without being plugged back in?

Fully charged and unplugged, the PURRA G300 diffuses for 293 hours of operation on setting I, 146 hours on II and 88 hours on III, figures stated by the manufacturer. On the gentle setting that comes to about 36 days at 8 hours of diffusion a day.

The 10,000 mAh battery charges fully in about 6 hours. Battery life is therefore not the installation constraint: it is rather the freedom to place the column 4 metres from the nearest socket, in the middle of a hall, instead of against a wall chosen by the cable.

Does a battery diffuser keep diffusing while it is plugged in?

Yes. On all four models in the range, the device works while charging: plugged in, it keeps diffusing normally. There is no interruption to plan for and no cycle to shift in order to charge, even at 8 hours of diffusion a day.

Two uses follow from this. In a private interior, the device stays plugged in permanently and the battery only serves when it is moved. In a space open to the public, the battery mainly avoids a visible extension lead on the floor, which is a trip hazard before it is a question of looks.

Which fragrance diffuser do you give someone with a very large living room?

A model sized for the room, otherwise the gift disappoints on the first try. Above 100 m² or under a high ceiling, the PURRA G300 covers 180 m² and stands on the floor without dedicated furniture. Below that, a device rated for 100 m² does the same job for a smaller budget.

The difficulty with a fragrance gift is not the device but the scent, which you rarely get right for someone else. Offering a choice of scents rather than a single imposed one removes that objection. Our article on the Christmas gift for your parents-in-law applies the same reasoning to a home you know little about.

If your living room exceeds 100 m², it is worth a closer look at the column: discover the PURRA G300 and its two finishes.
