Gifting a fragrance diffuser: delivery, case, returns

12 September 2026 · PURRA

Empilement de coffrets noirs pour offrir un diffuseur de parfum en cadeau

Gifting a fragrance diffuser comes down to three very concrete points: the day the parcel arrives, what the person opens in front of you, and what happens if the scent does not appeal to them. At PURRA, all three have a published, numbered answer. A cold nebulisation fragrance diffuser is a device that breaks concentrated fragrance into dry micro-droplets, with no water and no heat, and that is refilled rather than consumed: that is what makes it a gift rather than a consumable that disappears.

To gift a fragrance diffuser without risk, order at least a week before the date: orders ship within 24 to 48 hours, then delivery takes 2 to 4 days in mainland France. The Signature Set and its six 10 ml bottles, from 24.90 €, let the recipient choose their own scent instead of living with yours.

The essentials:

  • Shipping within 24 to 48 hours, then 2 to 4 days of delivery in mainland France, 2 to 5 days to Switzerland and Monaco.
  • Free shipping from 49 € in mainland France, Switzerland and Monaco; 10 € across twelve European countries, free from 399 €.
  • The C30 and the Signature Set arrive in a matte black case with a magnetic closure and fitted foam: there is no gift-wrapping option to tick at checkout.
  • Six scents in the catalogue, as 10 ml bottles or as a 100 ml refill: giving the choice beats betting on one note.
  • 14 calendar days to withdraw, starting the day after delivery, and a two-year legal warranty of conformity.

When should you order so the gift arrives on time?

Allow a week between the order and the date of the gift. PURRA orders ship within 24 to 48 hours, and carriage then takes 2 to 4 days in mainland France, 2 to 5 days to Switzerland and Monaco. A week therefore leaves real margin, even if the parcel runs a day late.

Shipping and delivering are two separate steps, and confusing them is what costs most in December: a stated dispatch time of 24 to 48 hours says nothing about the carrier. Across twelve European countries served, carriage is 10 €, free from 399 €, and the journey lengthens with distance. Zones and rates are published in the shipping policy.

Two precautions beat an order placed the day before. Have it delivered to your own address rather than to the person if you want to hand the gift over yourself: you keep control of the date. And as soon as the order passes 49 € in mainland France, Switzerland or Monaco, carriage drops to zero, which a device reaches on its own and a set alone does not.

Do you need gift wrapping, or is the case enough?

The case is enough, and you can check that before ordering. The PURRA C30 and the Signature Set arrive in a matte black case with a magnetic closure, holding a foam insert cut to the shape of the device or the bottles. There is no gift-wrapping option to tick at checkout: the product box is already the packaging the person opens.

A hand lifting the cap of the PURRA C30 fragrance diffuser, the device to gift alongside the scent set
The cap of the C30 lifts by hand: the bottle changes without tools, which matters when the gift is for someone who dislikes manuals.

This is where the comparison with the usual scented gifts becomes clear. A candle only works while it burns, a bundle of reed sticks evaporates in open air and cannot be adjusted, a room spray leaves a surface odour instead of diffusing. A device, by contrast, stays, refills and adjusts: cold nebulisation, which PURRA calls PureFlow™, breaks the pure fragrance apart with no water and no heat.

That leaves the format, because the case says nothing about which room the person will scent. Two references cover most interiors, and the budget reads at a glance.

Model Coverage Price Refill
PURRA C30, the portable format to gift 10 m² 89.90 € 10 ml bottle
PURRA X300S, the large format to place 100 m² 199.90 € 100 ml refill

For a bedroom, an entrance hall, an office or a car, the 10 m² format is the right calibre. For an open living space, you need the 100 m². Beyond that, the floor-standing column takes over, as our review of the PURRA G300 and its 180 m² details. The full reasoning by recipient is set out in our guide to choosing a diffuser as a gift.

What if the recipient does not like the scent?

The best answer is not to choose for them. The Signature Set brings together the six scents of the catalogue as 10 ml bottles, from 24.90 €: the recipient keeps the one that suits them. One bottle lasts 333 hours of operation on the gentle setting, which is about six weeks at 8 hours of diffusion per day.

The right of withdrawal exists, but it has limits, and they are better known beforehand than afterwards. On a distance purchase, service-public.fr sets out a period of 14 calendar days, opening the day after the goods are received. At PURRA, returns are accepted within that period on an unused device, returned complete in its original packaging, with return carriage payable by the customer, and a refill already opened is not taken back, for hygiene reasons.

Put differently, withdrawal protects the purchase, not hesitation over a smell. That is precisely why the choice of scent is handed to the recipient rather than corrected after the fact. Registering the device on the activation page additionally opens the Garantie Senteur and the Cercle PURRA, without conditioning the legal warranty, which applies regardless.

The refill: what the gift will ask for later

A diffuser given as a gift will ask for a refill, and honesty means saying so beforehand rather than after. A 100 ml refill costs from 24.90 € and lasts 625 hours of operation on setting I, 400 hours on II and 200 hours on III, which is about 78, 50 and 25 days at 8 hours of diffusion per day.

The consumable is sold individually, scent by scent, and that is the first criterion to check on any diffuser: a device whose refill does not exist separately becomes decorative once the first bottle is empty.

PURRA C30 fragrance diffuser in silver aluminium, the portable 10 m² model to give as a gift
Aluminium body and reusable internal bottle: the C30 refills instead of being replaced.

PURRA, a French brand of cold nebulisation fragrance diffusers, lines up three diffusers and six scent refills, as 10 ml bottles and as a 100 ml scent refill. The two volumes are not interchangeable: the 10 m² format takes the 10 ml bottle, the large formats take the 100 ml refill. Check this point before adding a refill to the gift.

That running budget is also an opportunity. Giving the device one year and a refill the next makes two coherent gifts, and it is fairer than one more object. To compare purchase channels, warranty and the zones served, our guide on where to buy a premium fragrance diffuser covers each point, and the Gifting a home fragrance page gathers the formats by occasion.

Frequently asked questions

Should you warn the person before giving them a home fragrance?

No, as long as you leave them the choice of scent. A set of six 10 ml bottles turns the surprise into a trial: each bottle lasts 333 hours of operation on the gentle setting, which is about six weeks at 8 hours of diffusion per day.

Warning them only makes sense in one case: if you know the person tolerates no diffused fragrance at home at all. There, the question is best asked openly, and letting them choose is more elegant than an object that stays in its case. Otherwise the device adjusts and switches off: whoever receives it keeps control of the intensity and of the hours.

How do you give a fragrance diffuser without implying the person's home smells bad?

By talking about atmosphere and never about odour. A fragrance diffuser is presented as a decorative object, calibrated for 10 m² in the portable format and up to 100 m² in the large format: the gift is about the scent comfort of a room, exactly as a beautiful lamp is about light.

The wording does all the work. "I thought of your entrance hall", "you entertain often" or "this is the scent signature of a hotel lobby" open the conversation; "your place smelled stuffy" closes it. The case helps too: an aluminium object presented in fitted foam reads as a decorative gift, not as a cleaning product.

Does the 14-day withdrawal period start from the order or from receiving the gift?

From receipt. On a distance purchase, the 14 calendar days run from the day after the goods are received, not from the order date. A gift received on 10 December therefore opens a period starting on 11 December, whatever the date on which it is handed over.

That nuance matters for a gift, since the period can expire before the person has even opened the parcel. The device must be unused and returned complete in its original packaging, with return carriage payable by the customer. The full terms are published on the returns page.

Can you exchange a premium diffuser for another model if the room is larger than expected?

Yes, within the 14 calendar days following receipt, by returning the unused device in its original packaging and then ordering the right format. The published coverage figures head off the mistake upstream: 10 m² for the PURRA C30, 100 m² for the PURRA X300S, 180 m² for the PURRA G300.

The calculation runs on the volume that is genuinely open, not on the floor area of the plan. A 40 m² living room that connects to a kitchen and a corridor behaves like a far larger volume, and that is the case where a portable format disappoints. When in doubt between two models, the larger format on the gentle setting gives a better result than the tight format pushed to maximum.

Do you need to keep the invoice for the warranty to apply to a gift?

Keep it, though it conditions nothing. The legal warranty of conformity runs two years from delivery of the goods, and registering the product stays optional: it opens no additional warranty. The invoice serves as proof of date, useful to place a fault inside that two-year period.

For a gift, the practical point lies elsewhere: the buyer is the one who contracted, so the buyer exercises the warranty and the withdrawal, not the person who receives it. Passing the invoice along with the gift settles the question in advance. Registering the device on the activation page does open additional services, including the Garantie Senteur.

Is a premium fragrance diffuser usable straight out of the case when given as a gift?

Almost: you first remove the white transport piece fitted in place of the bottle, screw in the refill, then plug the device in. A full charge takes about 5 hours on the PURRA C30 and about 6 hours on the large formats, figures stated by the manufacturer, and the device diffuses while it is plugged in.

In other words, the first mist arrives within the minute, not the next day. The transport piece goes back in for any move or any return to after-sales service, to protect the nozzle. And the first hours are set to the gentlest intensity: the nose adapts quickly, and a room pushed to maximum on day one feels saturated on day two.

If the gift should leave the choice open rather than impose it, the Signature Set and its six scents in 10 ml bottles is the format that does it, on its own or alongside a device.
